The Ionian University is organizing Research Day on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, with the aim of promoting and disseminating the research activity that has been carried out or is currently underway at the Institution to the public.

The international conference Towards Resilient Destinations: Integrating Nature, Culture and Tourism for Sustainable Futures will take place in hybrid format on April 23–24, 2026 at the Ionian Academy, Corfu, Greece, and will also be available online. The conference explores how tourism destinations can strengthen their resilience to environmental, social, and economic challenges, with a focus on nature, culture, and innovation.

The research activity of the faculty members (Academic Staff, Teaching Laboratory Staff, and Special Technical Laboratory Staff) of the Departments of Environment and Food Science and Technology of the School of Environment of the Ionian University was particularly dynamic in 2025, confirming the School’s active role in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge at both national and international levels.

The research laboratory «Software Engineering and Applications of Geoinformatics» called «ΤΕ.Λ.Ε.ΓΕ.», was established in the Department of Environment in Ionian university through ΦΕΚ 2669/1-7-2020 issue Β'. The laboratory aims to promote scientific research, with an emphasis on excellence, and support teaching in the broader field of Software Engineering and Applications of Geoinformatics.
