The “Cyril’s Lucaris” Orthodox Theological and Cultural School was established in 2025 in Ghana by His Eminence Archbishop Daniel of Accra. The academic program was developed with the collaboration and under the academic supervision of the Ionian University in Greece.

In 2024, H.E. Daniel signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration with the Rector of the Ionian University, Professor Andreas Floros, with the collaboration of Assoc. Professor Dr. Christos Karydis. Since then, the Ionian University has been actively engaged in all aspects of the School’s academic and administrative development, providing ongoing academic oversight to ensure the highest standards of theological education.

The School operates under the spiritual and canonical jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and is guided pastorally and administratively by the Holy Orthodox Archdiocese of Accra. The Archdiocese plays a vital role in shaping the School’s mission, fostering its growth, and ensuring its integral connection with the local Orthodox community.

The teaching staff consists of specialized volunteer professors from various academic institutions across Greece and Africa. The School warmly invites all educators who wish to contribute to the ongoing formation and education of our African brothers and sisters to participate in this important mission.

All educational activities take place within the Orthodox community of Accra, where students actively participate in the ‘living’ faith of Christ, the Gospels, the Orthodox Tradition and the spiritual teachings of the Church Fathers.
