A Beacon of Orthodox Education and Culture in Africa

St. Cyril’s Lucaris Orthodox Theological and Cultural School is an educational institution of the Orthodox Church in Africa, founded to form and equip faithful men and women for service to Christ, His Church, and the people of the African continent.

Named after the great reformer and martyr St. Cyril Lucaris, Patriarch of Alexandria and Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, the School stands as a living continuation of his vision: an Orthodox education rooted in Scripture and the Holy Fathers, open to dialogue with culture, and committed to truth, freedom, and spiritual renewal.

Located under the pastoral care of the Holy of the Orthodox Archdiocese of Accra, Ghana,  in collaboration with and under the academic supervision of the Ionian University, a Higher Educational Institution of the Hellenic Republic. The School, addresses the unique challenges and gifts of the African context. It seeks to form future clergy, lay leaders, educators, and community servants who will minister to the spiritual and social needs of Africa with integrity, theological depth, and cultural sensitivity.

• Language, philosophy, and contemporary issues

Students at St. Cyril’s do not simply study theology—they live it. Within a community of prayer, dialogue, and mutual respect, they are shaped into Orthodox Christians ready to proclaim the Gospel, serve the vulnerable, and build bridges between faith and society.

Above all, St. Cyril’s School seeks to become a center of hope and transformation for Africa—preparing generations of Orthodox Christians who will witness to the light of Christ in every village, city, and nation of this great continent.
