The Quality Policy of the Department of Environment is fully aligned with the Quality Policy of the Ionian University, rendering the Department of Environment fully dedicated and committed to providing high-level education by organizing and implementing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral Study Programs of high academic standards and significant added value through an interdisciplinary and cross-thematic approach.

The Department of Environment seeks and supports the development and cultivation of a creative environment of research, free scientific and work expression  for all staff and members of its academic community. The Department of Environment is committed to implementing this quality policy in all postgraduate programs it currently offers or will offer in the future, either independently or in cooperation with other Departments/Institutions of the Ionian University (IU) or other institutions, such as the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Study Program “Preservation & Management of Cultural Heritage” (MSc “PMCH”), which it co-organizes with the Department of Archives, Library Science & Museology of the IU. The quality policy supports the academic profile and orientation of the MSc “PMCH”.

Within the MSc “PMCH”, as in every postgraduate program of the Department of Environment, quality objectives are set, implemented, and monitored in order to serve specific strategic goals; the means and actions required for their achievement are determined with the participation of all stakeholders, and the appropriate internal and external evaluation and control procedures are applied with the ultimate aim of continuous improvement. Quality objectives are measurable and are assessed annually through specific indicators.

More specifically, the implementation of the Quality Policy of the MSc “PMCH” is inexctricably linked to the application of quality assurance procedures that ensure:

  • the appropriateness of the structure and organization of the MSc “PMCH”,
  • learning outcomes and qualifications aligned with the European and National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (Level 7),
  • the continuous development and revision of the Curriculum in accordance with current scientific developments and labor-market needs,
  • the promotion of the quality and effectiveness of teaching,
  • the promotion of research excellence,
  • the suitability of the qualifications of all teaching staff members,
  • the interconnection of teaching with research, taking into account the needs of the labor market,
  • the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of annual quality targets aimed at the continuous improvement of the MSc “PMCH” Curriculum,
  • the strong employability and labor-market demand for graduates’ qualifications,
  • the provision of adequate and high-quality support services to postgraduate students, ensuring the effectiveness of both distance-learning and face-to-face teaching components,
  • the efficient management and utilization of financial resources derived from tuition fees,
  • the conduct of an annual internal evaluation of the MSc “PMCH” within the framework of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) of the Ionian University, in cooperation with the Department’s Internal Evaluation Group (IEG), the MSc Program Studies Committee (PSC), and the University’s Quality Assurance Unit (QAU)
