The Department of Environment of the School of Environment, Ionian University, follows a unified quality policy for all Postgraduate Programs of Studies it offers or may offer in the future, either independently or in collaboration with Departments of the Ionian University or other Institutions of Higher Education.
The main pillars of quality assurance include the promotion of effective teaching, excellence in research and the adequacy of staff qualifications.
With regard to the Joint Postgraduate Studies Program (J.P.S.P.) titled “New Technologies in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development,” offered by the Department of Environment (coordinating department) and in collaboration with the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University, and for the purposes of implementing the above principles as well as ensuring the smooth operation of the Program and the consistent capacity and effectiveness of its human resources, the Department of Environment endorses a staff support and development policy, which is based on the following core principles:
- Encouragement and practical support, including the granting of leave, for the continuous, professional development of academic and administrative staff through external bodies. Such professional development may cover various areas, indicatively including new technologies in education and administration, human resources/management, legislation and ethics, as well as aspects of personal development (for example, psychological resilience in the workplace).
- Support for training and advisory activities within the J.P.S.P. through various means, such as invited speakers and participation in roundtable discussions.
- Encouragement of the participation of academic staff in national and international scientific conferences, workshops and symposia with a view to disseminating their research outcomes, staying informed about developments in their respective fields of research and exploring opportunities for future research collaborations.
- Provision, maintenance and development of necessary and effective infrastructure and services to ensure the smooth delivery of the educational activities, whether conducted in-person or remotely, as well as the effective performance of administrative tasks.
- Provision of support services for research activities, such as access to bibliographic databases, administrative support for the implementation of research projects and the allocation of specific funding for the publication of research results in open-access journals or for participation in scientific conferences.
- Continuous identification, documentation, assessment and review of the needs of academic and administrative staff, aimed at the rational adoption of support and development measures.
