The Department of Environment of the School of Environment and the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the School of Music and Audiovisual Arts of the Ionian University jointly organize the Joint Postgraduate Studies Program (J.P.S.P.) titled “New Technologies in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development”, which operates in accordance with Senate Decision No. 18/29-05-2020 (Government Gazette 3610/29.08.2020, Series B). The founding decision was amended in February 2023 (Government Gazette 768/B/15-02-2023) and provides for the implementation of distance learning methods for 100% of the teaching activities.
The J.P.S.P. admitted its first postgraduate students in the academic year 2020–2021.
Mission
The proposed J.P.S.P. aims to promote the practical application of modern technologies in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of Creative Technologies for the delivery of educational content through contemporary audiovisual media, as well as—at a more advanced level—on creative expression addressing environmental issues through modern forms of digital art.
More specifically, the objective of the J.P.S.P. is to provide specialization in the interdisciplinary scientific field emerging from the convergence of Environmental Studies, Education, New and Creative Audiovisual Technologies, and Digital Art. Its primary goal is the transfer of specialized knowledge and the development of both conventional and creative skills for the design and implementation of educational programmes that promote sustainable development and the sustainable use of natural resources.
