The Department of Environment of the Ionian University participates in the ERASMUS + (Erasmus+) Programme, through which the Postgraduate Programmes of Studies it offers—either independently or as the coordinating department—are also included. Through this programme, students are given the opportunity to study for one or two semesters at universities within the European Union and to benefit from academic subjects offered by foreign institutions, language learning, exposure to different cultures, and related experiences. In this way, students of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme of Studies  “New Technologies for Environmental Education and Sustainable Development” are able to acquire a high level of specialization, a broad academic perspective, and international experience, which will be valuable for their subsequent professional and/or academic careers.

The period of study abroad is fully recognized. Mobility may involve attendance of coursework, the preparation of the Master’s thesis, or participation in an internship. Students select courses with a workload (ECTS credits) equivalent to those they would have in the IPPS during the corresponding semester and are required to attend classes at the host institution and participate in the examinations. Courses successfully completed are recognized and replace corresponding courses of the IPPS through the transfer of credits (ECTS), in accordance with the national framework and the Postgraduate Programme of Studies.
