The Quality Policy of the Department of Environment is fully aligned with the Quality Policy of the Ionian University and reflects the Department’s firm commitment to academic excellence in education. This commitment is expressed through the structure and delivery of Undergraduate and Postgraduate (MSc and PhD) Programmes of Study that meet high academic standards and offer substantial added value, while adopting an interdisciplinary and cross-thematic approach.

The Department of Environment fosters a creative academic environment which supports research, scientific inquiry and scholarly activity within the academic community. The Department is committed to implementing this Quality Policy across all Postgraduate Programmes of Study it offers or may offer in the future, either independently or in collaboration with Departments of the Ionian University or other Institutions of Higher Education. This commitment includes the Joint Postgraduate Studies Program (J.P.S.P.) titled “New Technologies in Environmental Education and Sustainable Development,” offered in collaboration with the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University. The Quality Policy underpins and reinforces the academic profile, objectives and strategic orientation of the J.P.S.P.

Within the J.P.S.P., as in all Postgraduate Programmes of the Department of Environment, quality objectives are set, implemented and monitored in order to serve specified strategic goals. The means and actions required to achieve these objectives are defined with the participation of all relevant stakeholders, and internal and external evaluation and audit procedures are applied to support continuous improvement. Quality objectives are measurable and assessed on an annual basis through specific indicators.

More specifically, the Quality Policy of the J.P.S.P. is closely linked to a set of quality assurance procedures ensuring the following:

  • the effectiveness of the structure and organization of the P.S.P.
  • the realization of learning outcomes and qualifications aligned with the European and National Qualifications Frameworks for Higher Education (Level 7)
  • the development and systematic revision of the Curriculum in accordance with current scientific developments and labor-market requirements/trends
  • the assurance of quality and effectiveness in teaching
  • the promotion of research excellence
  • the academic and professional qualifications of all members of the teaching staff in accordance with established criteria
  • the integration of teaching and research, taking into account labour-market requirements/trends
  • the establishment, implementation and systematic monitoring of annual quality objectives aimed at the continuous enhancement of the P.S.P. Curriculum
  • the strong alignment of the qualifications acquired by graduates with labour-market requirements/trends
  • the provision of effective and high-quality academic and administrative support services for postgraduate students, ensuring the efficient delivery of both distance and face-to-face teaching
  • the transparent management of the financial resources of the P.S.P. funded by tuition fees
  • the annual internal evaluation process of the PPS “NTEES”, within the framework of the Ionian University’s Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS), in cooperation with the Department’s Internal Evaluation Group, the Programme Studies Committee of the P.S.P. and the University Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP).
